## David Greene Sues Google Over NotebookLM Voice
Former longtime NPR host David Greene has filed a lawsuit against Google, alleging the tech giant used his voice without permission to train and power its new AI tool, NotebookLM. The complaint centers on Google’s AI model’s ability to summarize documents and read them aloud using a voice that Greene claims is an unauthorized replication of his own.
NotebookLM, launched recently, allows users to upload documents and then query the AI for summaries or have it read the text. Greene’s lawsuit asserts that Google appropriated his distinctive voice, developed over decades in radio journalism, to create the AI’s vocal output. He is seeking damages and an injunction against Google’s continued use of his voice.
This legal action marks another prominent case in the ongoing debate over intellectual property rights and the use of copyrighted material, including voices and likenesses, in the development and deployment of artificial intelligence models.
